IMAC co-Chair Beck O'Connor steps down

The IMAC would like to express its gratitude towards outgoing co-Chair Ms Beck O’Connor, who has resigned from her role as IMAC co-Chair to commence in the role of Queensland’s first Victims’ Commissioner on 29 July 2024.

Ms O’Connor was appointed as IMAC co-Chair in November 2023 in recognition of her experience in senior leadership roles in the community and human services sector. This included in her former role as Chief Executive Officer of DVConnect and VictimConnect, Queensland's 24/7 victims of crime support service.

IMAC co-Chair Mr John Robertson said: ‘Beck’s departure is a bittersweet moment for the IMAC.

‘Beck has an unwavering dedication and heartfelt commitment to improving outcomes for victims. Her leadership as co-Chair has not only inspired but has also significantly helped to establish our focus and strategic direction.

‘We wish her every success in her new role as Victims’ Commissioner, confident that her compassion and drive will continue to positively enhance the experiences of victims in Queensland’s criminal justice system.’

Ms O’Connor will continue to participate in the IMAC in her role as Victims’ Commissioner as a permanent observer.
